Dallas West End Walking Tour
Filled with delicious restaurants and historical venues, Dallas’ West End can provide a rich learning experience.
The visual landmark is the Old Red Courthouse. You cannot miss this one. While intriguing and charming from the outside, inside may not be more limited. The building has been updated beyond credibility. The recreated, substituted interior is disappointing. The courtroom is ‘off limits’ though you are advised a docent comes Thursday at two p.m. sometimes to give a tour. When I asked about a rain check to come back for the Court Room tour I was advised, it was not a firm event and Iw would need to purchase another ticket, again, to see the Court Room. Skip this one, if your time or money are limited.
This sad part of the history of Dallas is also located in Dallas’ West End. Dealey Plaza, obviously, is just south of The Sixth Floor Museum and located due West of the Old Red Museum Courthouse.
